Through the "Gen Z Social Media Behavior 2021" survey conducted by Girl in April 2021 against 1,717 respondents, it was found that the average Gen Z spends about 3-5 hours using social media per day. This time is not only used to find entertainment, but also to find the latest news or issues and to connect with many things.
For Gen Z, social media can be a place to express themselves, channel their voices on important issues, and seek change for the world. The existence of social media also makes Gen Z tend to have a fairly high self-confidence and strongly believe in authenticity, and hold fast to the values they believe in.
“With this self-confidence, Gen Z feels more active, positive, and innovative. Besides that, they can grow a sweet character in themselves," said Tara de Thouars, clinical psychologist, in the virtual launch event of Wings Group Indonesia's Fres & Natural Dessert Collection, last Thursday (24/6).
According to Tara, this sweet character is also important for Gen Z to have in order to prevent them from negative behaviors, such as bullying, do not care, do not respect, have no integrity, and jealous. There is also a sweet character that is meant by Tara is a friendly, fun, caring, and empathetic character.
"To build an active, positive, and innovative Gen Z with a sweet character, two supporting factors are needed, namely internal and external factors," Tara explained. In terms of internal factors, this effort can be developed by Gen Z itself, for example by caring about appearance by keeping the body and smelling good, and consciously building good character.
Meanwhile, from external factors, the environment such as family, school, social, it is also necessary to actively instill, set an example, and together build good character values for Gen Z teenagers. "If teenagers are confident, they can believe in themselves, maximize their potential. , and can overcome life's challenges," added Tara.

Be Yourself, The Important Key for Gen Z To Be A Positive Person
In line with the sweet and confident character of Gen Z, Janine Intansari, beauty influence, also emphasizes that being yourself is an important key to being a positive person.
"It's okay to look a little different, the important thing is be yourself. Be yourself who does not harm others, always think and act positively. It's very important to build a sweet character, we don't need to respond with the same treatment to people who behave badly to us," said the girl who often appears eccentric with colorful hair and eyebrows as its hallmark.
